I became head gardener of garden 4 in 2017. Back then we mostly had plants that were either donated to the butterfly gardens by residents or we purchased our own plants. We had limited water and limited funding. For the past five years there have been many improvements. Our Queen Bee began sharing knowledge of the plants that attracted butterflies and bees, she implemented an irrigation system for all ten gardens, brought the group together by everyone working on one garden a week and raise funds for the gardens to purchase plants and flowers.
The next substantial change came in 2020 when Mary Freeh joined garden 4 and became interested in native plants that attracted pollinators. We went from having mostly annuals and some non-native perennials to having over 68 native plants! Come visit garden 4 to see how native plants can be used in landscaping amid a variety of perennials, ground covers, trees, herbs, and annuals.

Our team is Barbara Saletto (Leader), Linda Musick, and Barb McGuire.
