Our goal in #7 is to not only to provide a haven for butterflies, pollinators & birds but to also serve as an aesthetic oasis for residents and visitors by adding colorful annuals and popular bromeliads.
Garden 7 has grown over the past 3 years when we cleaned out and transformed the area west up to what is now The Corner Garden. Because the area didn’t have irrigation at the time nor budgeting, we relied on donated, drought tolerant plants and trees. (our “Donation Station” area!)
In February 2021, we welcomed irrigation to that area, our south side, and a desperately needed overhaul to our existing sprinkler system in the main garden.
Summers are spent maintaining, weeding, and watering. But in November, we again begin the process of assessing & planting new perennials and the striking array of annuals that last until the summer’s heat.
Jean (a #7 original); Joan (summer leader); former garden leaders Carol & Bob; Vivian; Sue (our newest member); and new garden leader Sally lovingly & proudly continue to maintain #7’s segment of the beautifully renowned Butterfly Gardens of Village Walk Bonita.
